The Occuplaytional Therapist page began in May 2021 as a goofy little side project, a way for me to categorise and share the types of things I was already writing for fun about my OT job. I was full of thoughts and ideas, it was the middle of a pandemic, and I was unhappy with the lack of high-quality OT-related content that was freely available on the internet.
I never dreamed that what I wrote would grow to reach so many over time. And over the years, my audience has said time and time again that they wish all the things I posted were more easily searchable, collated or categorised, able to be read on theme and able to be printed.
These post collections are not edited. They are not books. (I also write books, but these aren't that.) They aren't highly polished. In fact, they are literally just Facebook posts copy-pasted into documents for ease of reading. If you're here on this page and thinking that with the cost of living crisis you cannot afford something like this -- I would encourage you to click out of it right now! Go to my Facebook page, click on the little magnifying glass icon, and search a key word instead. "Hitting," "dysregulation," "sensory," whatever it is you're here looking for. You can find it for free there. That has always been important to me and it is never going to change.
But if you're here and you have $2 to spare, and you want the best of everything I ever wrote all in one place about sensory stuff, or about emotional regulation, or about parenting stories...that's what this is for. It's a tool for increased accessibility. The documents have a table of contents, so you can look for a story that once jumped out at you. They are searchable, so you can still type in a key word and look for anything I've written on that topic.
And if you want absolutely everything, get the whole set and have the best of five years' worth of work, all saved on your own device instead of subject to the whims of the internet.
Thanks for being on this ride with me. Here's to five more (and more, and more...)
